Attended this sold-out event on Saturday night, Jan 21. Fantastic - would be said next to nothing!
The program’s crescendo builds with Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major and acclaimed American soloist, a rising star, Randall Goosby—an artist with “exquisite tone and sheer virtuosity” ( NY Times). The violinist tore the bow to shreds while playing - really masterfully played, sometimes falling into ecstasy and even reaching a paroxysm of passion in places. ... And the genius of Tchaikovsky - really inspired by Mozart ...
Then - in the 2nd part - Prokofiev's 3rd symphony followed - about the possession by Demons (it seemed to me It was about the war even though written by Prokofiev in 1928 - the current Ruso-Ukranian war - because the rattle of iron of marching tanks, the roar of artillery and the whistle of bullets were clearly audible. One of the most difficult things for wind / brass instruments and violin.
